A few weeks ago, Alice Clough contacted some local artists (including me) to ask if we would be willing to donate a piece of work for Charity purposes. She then explain her project: the Mongol rally, a personal adventure as well as a charitable project.
In July, she will drive over 10,000 miles from here to Mongolia, in an ambulance that will be given at the end of the journey to one of the many regions in the country where medical services are very poor.
But this is not all. Alice and her team “I Think Therefore I Ambulance” also support 2 other charities:
- The Christina Noble Children’s Foundation, which runs the specialised Blue Skies village just outside Mongolia’s capital. Here they provide shelter, education and community support to homeless children. www.cncf.org.
- Cam-Mind, which provides support to people experiencing mental health problems throughout Cambridgeshire, and works to combat the stigma surrounding these sorts of problems. Cam-Mind is also one of the first charities in the region to offer Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training. www.cam-mind.org.uk.
This is why there will be be an Art Auction at Nomads on Kings Parade the Sunday 10th of April. You can read more about Alice’s project and other fund raising events at http://www.cityviewed.co.uk/articles/services-amenities/charities/mongol-rally-2011/
This is my contribution to the project:
If you also want to support these charities and possibly acquire some local art at a very reasonable price, see you at Nomads the the Sunday 10th of April!
